Why work for QAHH?

We work with ex-Servicemen and women from a variety of backgrounds, some have been with us a long time and others are here for short respite care. Our residents also have varying levels of physical ability and each needs to be treated on an individual basis. To have a successful career with QAHH you must share our values and want to be an ambassador for our cause.

Our staff receive extensive support and training and development opportunities, and we make sure we give you every chance to understand what The Queen Alexandra Hospital Home stands for.

Being committed doesn't mean doing the nine to five. We have lots of opportunities to join the residents on days out, from rugby at Twickenham to a day at Buckingham Palace.

Bringing people together

Staff at The Queen Alexandra Hospital Home come from a variety of backgrounds and walks of life. From nurses, Health Care Assistants, members of the clergy, bank staff, everyone has something in common, we all want to deliver the best care possible to this unique group of people.

Registered General Nurses - Taking a holistic approach to care, our Registered General Nurses are highly trained and experienced in the delivery of care to the disabled.

Health Care Assistants – Health Care Assistants are the lifeblood of the organisation. This roles involves working in a hands on capacity with the residents, ensuring the charities core values are upheld – Privacy, Rights, Dignity, Independence, Fulfillment and Choice.

Fundraising – These roles involve working with a range of QAHH supporters from individual donors to large corporations. The QAHH relies on donations by individuals and companies to continue to maintain and exceeding the highest standards of care.

Support Staff - the Support Services Staff are often the "unsung heroes" of the organisation who work hard behind the scenes to keep the home in operational health - from cooking and cleaning to directing phone calls and tending the garden!

Work Placements

We have student nurses from Brighton University, Surrey University, and Ministry of Defence students from University of Central England. Often the relationship between placement students and QAHH is a reciprocal one because where we provide the environment they also bring new techniques and academic perspectives that benefit our residents.

We also accept Adaptation students who bring knowledge from overseas.

Some of our Registered Nurses have completed a Teaching and Assessing course in order for them to be Mentors to the student Nurses.

We also pride ourselves on our links with the community and are open to receive work experience students from local schools and colleges who gain first hand experience in modern nursing and care practice and methods.
