Treorchy Male Choir come to Chichester for Charity Concert
On Saturday 19th January 2008 Chichester Cathedral will be the magnificent location to host the world famous Treorchy Male Choir and soloist which is in aid of the The Queen Alexandra Hospital Home.
This evening has been organised by a keen supporter of The Hospital Home, David Morris, who wanted to help make a difference to all the residents. Mr Morris said the reason behind organising this event was because he was amazed that The Hospital Home is self funded and that the government does not do more to help these ex-service men and women who have served our country.
The Treorchy Choir perform a variety of songs from the more traditional hymns such as Cwm Rhondda to the songs from the repertoire of Queen and Andrew Lloyd Webber. Prior to the performance there will be an opportunity for people to attend a drinks reception with a guest speaker who will talk about the concert and QAHH.
The Treorchy Choir must be regarded as one of the greatest success stories in the cultural history of Wales. They were founded in the nineteenth century. One of their earliest performances was before Queen Victoria at Windsor Castle. The Choir has more recently performed with such stars as Ella Fitzgerald, Julie Andrews, Tom Jones and Katherine Jenkins.
The choir has achieved an unbeaten record of Eisteddfod wins, produced an unequalled amount of commercial records, undertaken hugely successful tours of Australia, Canada and the USA while performing hundreds of concerts closer to home. Over the years this amateur group of singers has become an admirable ambassador for Wales.
The performance will start at 7.30pm and will finish at approximately 10.00pm.
