The Queen Alexandra Hospital Home for physically disabled ex-Service personnel (also known as Gifford House) will hold its annual Summer Open Day on Saturday 30th June in the grounds of the Hospital Home, in Boundary Road. Gates open at 1.30pm, with the official opening at 2pm by Dame Vera Lynn DBE who will also be available for autograph signing.
Attractions include activities for children, bouncy castle, the Real Dads Army, performances by The Glendale Theatre Arts School, Professor Joe’s Punch & Judy Show and music from The Band of the Scots Guards and Band of the Royal British Legion. The finale to the day will be a spectacular balloon release with a prize for the person whose balloon travels the furthest. The day’s events have been kindly sponsored by Hearability, Topak Marketing and Acorn Antiques.
The Grand Raffle promises to be the highlight of the afternoon with first prize being tickets for a West End Show, dinner and a night at The London Marriott Hotel Kensington. Second prize is an exclusive look behind the scenes tour of the BBC News Studios 24 with Nicholas Witchell, and third prize is a Champneys Relax Day for two, with lunch.

All proceeds will go towards the care and rehabilitation of physically disabled ex-Service men and women of all ages, and their dependents and will help in the charity’s aim to enable their residents to live as independently, actively and normally as possible.
